Yumetenbo Order

Hey everyone!
おさしぶりね!

Sorry it's been so long. I've been working sooo hard at uni that i have had nothing interesting to blog about. I might blog about my time at the Harry Potter Studio Tour that i went to on my birthday the other week but not right now.

Today is a blog post about my Yumetenbo order!

I placed my order through the DreamV Rakuten sight. I bought 2 items of around 1200yen each with postage of 1500yen or so.

The order was placed on the 24th May and (i guess, i can't read the email they sent me) shipped out on the 28th May and arrived on my doorstep yesterday (the 31st May). Considering i was told that it would take around 20 days minumum to get my package i was very pleased and surprised to get it!

The items i bought were these:

In Cream/Yellow

and

in Pink.

The quality of the items is much nicer than I was expecting! i had heard somewhere that yumetenbo items, because they were relatively unexpensive, the fabrics were cheap and thin. However they were infact very thick fabrics! The fabric is along the same lines of a Jersey. Stretchy and soft, but it's think enough that it doesn't all go out of shape when gravity hits it. XD
The lace, although not the best is soft and the right colour and all the details are sewn on firmly.

The items arrived in a medium sized box, individually wrapped in plastic envelopes, much like Bodyline do. They were folded in the box but not badly and not to the extend that it creased them. It was a well sealed box and i was happy with it.

The sizes i bought were a bit strange, the dress i bought in the 3L size as it stated the bust was 90cm (i am around 100cm) but i thought it didn't matter much as it is not an enclosed dress. and the waist is 78cm (i am 77cm). The back of the dress is shirred which means it fits great! and it fits my bust absolutely fine. The hips didnt matter as it is a flared skirt. The length of the dress is actually pretty alright, i was expecting it to be much shorter as i am taller than the japanese average.

The Pawprint skirt is the item that really surprised me as i bought it in LL and the waist measurment stated 72cm (4cm smaller than my waist) I bought it however with the intentions of losing wait anyway and it would be a treat to myself when i lost it. however when it turned up and i tried it on it fit fine with room to spare! I'd say it is actually more like a 78 waist again. So i'm very happy with these two purchases!

The shipping was quite expensive and the only thing about DreamV that i didn't like. They offered a more expensive faster shipping option however considering how quickley they arrived i don't believe it would be neccessary.

Price: 8/10
Quality: 8/10
Service: 9/10
Shipping Price: 5/10

Worth the Money: 9/10

How to Make an Inspiration Board

As part of my room revamp project i decided to take all the stuff off my bulletin board as it was cluttered and looking a bit ugly. So I decided to turn it into a fairy kei inspiration board and decided to make a How To on how i did it.

You Will Need:

Bulletin Board
Fabric to match the theme you are going for
Hot glue gun
inspiring photos/images etc
pins or sticky tac/ something to stick your images on with

Cut the fabric so it's bigger than than the bulletin and the edges are able to fold over to the back.

place the fabric on the front of the board and smooth it out from the centre. then use pins to hold the fabric still.

Next flip the board over and hot glue down 2 parallel sides. Then fold the corners in neatly and glue down the other 2 sides.

You should now have a nice smooth fabric covered board.

Now all you have to do is attack it with your images and things. I decorated mine with outfit inspiration, room inspirationg and other colourful inspiring images. I also used some of the cute and colourful things i had on my old board like different images of cupcakes and cute labels etc.

Looks much better than my old one! :)

Bedroom Inspiration

Why did i join tumblr? why? it is slowing sucking my soul and replacing it with pictures of Kyary, My Little Ponies and loads of other stuff that is totally blowing my mind. I also think my boyfriend is a bit concerned with the sudden and immediate obsession with teh interwebz.....

but moving on.

I found most of these pictures floating around Tumblr and as i'm trying to fairy up my room i thought i'd point out exactly what about them i like and what i want to do. :)

GDU Tavuchi for having the most epic of epi bedrooms! I want a low table like that to do my work on. and the heart shaped one is so cute. There is something about japanese bedrooms that are completely amazing. There is so little space that everything has it's own place and there is something really lovely about how they hang fabric and clothes on the walls as a mixture of decoration and storage!

I also want to cover the floor in cute fabric. The carpet in my flat is brown and it's horrible. i think laying out some pieces of fabric (and trapping them underneath stuff of course) would really brighten up my room and Spank!-ify it nicely.

cute bedding! I have serious issues finding cute and affordable bedding. I look everywhere and nothig comes CLOSe to anything this cute. although i'm seriously tempted to buy some plain pink polka dot ones from primark and decorate them myself.

Toys and jewellry and accessory holders. I love this MLP ferris wheel idea for jewellry and i've actually got my eye on a Barbie horse hair styling head for all my hair clips and stuff. think it would totally cuteify and creepify my room. :)

cute funn squishy chairs. you know, to go with my new mini table. plus macaroons are totally amazingcakes.

Plastic Chain Jewellry

Today i was playing around with the beads and plastic star links i bought the other day and created some cool 80s looking chunky kiddy jewellry.

This is the necklace

I originally wanted all of it to be the links but they were too chunky and there werent enough. this way i used less and it's more comfortable to wear.

The bracelet looks like this

The one with the white beads is out of the Little Twin Star box I got the other day. :)

(Cable knit sweater is my mum's. i stole/borrowed it from her. i love the trend at the moment to wear cable knit sweaters with fairy kei. super warm too!)

30 Day Fairy Kei Challenge Day 17 and up

Opps, like i said before, not keeping up with blog series i started.
Seeing as it's been about 20 odd days since my last post and there are only 14 questions left, I'll try to answer them all in this post. If you'll pardon the massiveness of the post!

☆ Day sixteen: How did you dress before Fairy-Kei?

Like this:

hahaha no just kidding, i was wearing my friends costume there.

I dressed how i dress now, Fairy Kei is only a secondary fashion, especially as i really cant be bothered when i'm just going to uni for an hour or whatever. Tights or leggings under a skirt or shorts, top and some kind of cardigan or jumper. I'm trying to do fairy kei more though. or at the very least fairy kei inspired! My own style has almost always been influenced by fashion in Japan though.

☆ Day seventeen: Do you dress in also another style, e.g. Lolita.

Not Lolita, i dont think i'd suit it but i'm interested in it. Other than my own style, no. :( sorry for the boring answer.

☆ Day eighteen: How do you dress when you go to school?

Uni. ahem.
Depends, if i'm in for a long day i usually put in more effort. But it usually consists of tights or over-the-knee socks, skirt, tshirt and cardigan. it sounds very boring but i have a wide range of everything. XD currently, my fairy kei consists of wearing basically the same but switching them for pastels.

☆ Day nineteen: 5 of your favourite toys.

The My Little Pony plush my brother won me in a UFO catcher, my Hello Kitty and Cupcake cushions, my Gloomy Bear teddy and my Ramond and Scott "Scott Pilgrim" plushies. :)

☆ Day twenty: What do you see in Fairy-Kei in general in the next 5 years?

Hmm..... I see it either peetering out to something as obscure as Takuya Angel now (my japanese friend didnt even know what that was) OR getting bigger and bigger as SPANK! expands and possibly influencing western fashion (the Usamimi trend reached here and 80s cartoon printed stuff is coming into fashion again!)

☆ Day twenty-one: 5 of your favourite cartoons.

Before i even knew about Fairy Kei back when i was 16 I was watching My Little Pony etc. My Little Pony, Pokemon, most Disney Films, Care Bears, uhm.... cant think of anything else. XD

☆ Day twenty-two: The most expensive thing you’ve ever bought.

My Tiffany's ring. although that wasn't even my money. haha. uhm.... probably my Pikachu Kigurumi. Other than that it's things like my Laptop and Ipod that are most expensive.

☆ Day twenty-three: 10 of your favourite foods.
Easey peasy:
Custard
Chips/Fries
Cupcakes
Croissants
Pineapple
Strawberries
Cherries
Yorkshire Puddings
Jaffa Cakes
Pop Rocks

☆ Day twenty-four: Your favourite motif.

Motif? That's a picture isn't it. like a panda or something? Cupcakes. Anything cupcakes. I have a tattoo of a cupcake don't i??

☆ Day twenty-five: How do people in school/work react to how you’re dressed?

My Coursemates are probably more accepting of my stuff than my housemates. When i wear my teddy trainers i get "oh god" but at uni i get "omg! those are amazing!"

☆ Day twenty-six: If you could put any phrase on a conversation-heart sweet, what would it be?
"Life is One Time"

It's from the Morning Musume song "Mikan". I really like the line and it's totally true. you only live once!

☆ Day twenty-seven: Your dream job?
Costume Interpretor: working alongside Colleen Atwood

Or i really REALLy like the idea of opening a cupcakery!

☆ Day twenty-eight: 5 of your favourite places.

Grand Canyon - a bit "out-there" but i loved being there and would love to go again

London - I love China town and covent garden!

Bournemouth - It's such a great place to live and i think i'm going to stay there!

Japan - Duh! Not been there yet but i know i will love it! XD

My Room - my little place of (messy) heaven. i like to decorate it myself and make it mine and i chill out there more than anywhere else. even if it is a tip. XD

☆ Day twenty-nine: Your favourite colour-combo.

Pale Pink and Blue or Lilac and Pale Yellow

☆ Day thirty!: Do you see yourself wearing Fairy Kei in 5 years time?

Not sure. My fashion has been influenced by Japanese fashion for a long time (the past few days i've been sporting a cale knit sweater like are popular in japan right now) so maybe, maybe not. I hope so because it's so fun!

Nails In Nippon's 12 Days of Christmas Challenge

First off i want to apologise for the advent calendar posts falling short!
I havent had any time as i had to get my work done for hand-in then i've been helping with other people's work this week and this weekend i am going home for christmas.
I will hopefully be able to carry on making the skirt over christmas and i will upload a full tutorial in the new year. I'm very sorry for anyone who was waiting for those posts.

In anycase, i know i've fallen behind with the Fairy Kei challenge but on Nails In Nippon today she posted about a 12 days of christmas nail challenge that i am going to HAVE to do.

Day 3. Green Nails

30 Day Fairy Kei Challenge Days 10 and 11

Sorry for not posting yesterdaaaaay. was busy and today i was working. advent calendar post coming up next. oh and a clothing post. woot.

☆ Day eleven: How do you react to the negative ones?

Like i said i live in a student town but if i do get anything negative i ignore it. I've been comfortabel in my own skin for a while now and have been dressing "differently" for yeeeeaaarrrrs so i just ignore it.

☆ Day twelve: The craziest coord you’ve ever worn.

Hmmm..... tricky question as i am still currently building my wardrobe and find it hard to dress in full Fairy Kei. especially as my housemates would probs disown me.
But saying that i have worn my pink stripey dress with my My Little Pony tshirt, white tights, white loose socks and my pink teddy trainers. :)

I also wore a pretty mad co-ord to a photoshoot. I have a dress with cupcakes on, wore that over a tiered lace/frilly skirt, one pair of pink socks, one pair of purple socks, pink and white stripey bunny hoody and my headphones. the photos actually came out pretty awesome. :D

Advent Calendar series

So I have gone on this new diet, not to lose weight but to become more healthy and help my digestion and asthma better. So far it has been working but I'm not really allowed to eat chocolate! :( So no advent calendar for me this year. (she says, but she'll probably head out and buy one anyway) Instead i've decided to do an Advent Calendar Blog Series. some kind of tutorial on how to make something step by step. :)

I haven't decided what to do yet though. I probably will post it up later. In the meantime, if you have any ideas for things you'd like me to do please comment. :)

I was thinking about doing a tutorial on how to make a patchwork skirt like the ones Tavuchi wear?

Let me know!

:3

30 Day Fairy Kei Challenge Day 10

Day 10! And happy December 1st!! Now i can blast christmas carols really loud without my boyfriend telling me off! YAY! I love christmas. :D

Onwards!

☆ Day ten: How do you react to positive comments or people curious about your style on the streets?

I live in a student town so a lot of people dress differently or creatively so i actually don't get much attention from dressing in F-K. if people do ask i just answer their question and move on. :) I'm polite and smiley i guess. :)

Internet Haul

So i just spent a little too much money online. I got paids early so went a bit mad. but i won't be buying myself anything but food for a while so i thought i'd treat myself.

First up is this pair of socks cause i don't have any purple ones

then i got this jumper cause omfg it's cute!

Both of these things are from Asos.com. The jumper was a BIT on the expensive side but it's too cute to pass up.

Last but definitely not least are these Angelic Pretty Lucky Pack socks i found on ebay of all places! :O

So happy! and now i can tick "buy something from AP" off my 101 in 1001 list. :D

30 Day Fairy Kei Challenge Day 8

☆ Day eight: How do your family and friends feel about the style?

Well my mum I think is a bit confused with my sudden love of pastel colours. I think she has the whole "you're a grown up. act like one" attitude to everything i like right now.

my friends are a bit like "whatever" i dont really talk to them about fashion because they're just like "you're so weird" if i say i like something a bit weird. I dont think they like it particularly but they keep their mouths shut for the most part....

such a supportive group of people. ¬_¬'

30 Day Fairy Kei Challenge Day 7

☆ Day seven: 5 songs that remind you of Fairy-Kei.

5 songs that make me think of Fairy Kei.....

hmmm..... tough question. let's see:

~1 PONPONPON by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu

yes yes oh so predictible yet again but this song was released around the time i decided to seriously think about becoming more Fairy Kei. And around the time i began this blog. :)

~2 My Little Pony theme

for obvious reasons.

~3 Sekaichi Happy No Onna No Ko by C-ute

actually listen to this one if you have never heard it. XD

This song is proper hyper and happy and in the video they wear suuuuper foamy skirts. :) happiness all over which is what Fairy Kei is. :3

~4 Magic Girl by Orange Caramel

LOVED this song when it came out. Just the whole thing is one massive ball of happy. :)

~5 Endless Love by Yao Yao (the video says free love but on the album it's called Endless Love)

she's so cute! either this song or Di Di Da by her.

Angelic Pretty

So i've been pretty smitten with AP for a while now.

I'm mainly interested in the accessories because i know i'd never be able to afford the clothes or wear them properly.

However.....

Their new print Decoration Dream is frickin' adorable.

I LOVE that little horse shaped cookie thing. and all the colours wanna make me dance in a rainbow fountain. seriously. omg.

I need these socks in my life

anyone who knows me will tell you that i love over-the-knee socks and have a whole drawer full of them and these ones fit right in with my new-found love for Fairy Kei.

I'm hopefully going to PAris with my boyfriend for a weekend in the new year and hope to go to Angeis Pretty. Although i doubt they'd have these still then..... maybe i'll get them with my christmas money......

30 Day Fairy Kei Challenge Day 6

☆ Day six: Your luckiest thrift-store find.

I still haven't got a photo of it. i'm really terrible with taking photos.

I wouldn't really call it a thrist store find because i got it all in H&M but i found a pair of boyfriend cut dungarees (overalls) which i have now cut into shorts and decorated with ribbons, a pair of pale orange pumpkin shorts, pink and white stripey skirt and a mint green slouchy skirt. all this cost me just £8!! bargain! considering the dungarees were originall £30 and each of the skirts were about £10 each originally i find this a very good find. :)

30 Day Fairy Kei Challenge Day 4!

☆ Day four: 5 of your style-icons

Hmmm ok....

Numero Uno:
I know this is a really obvious one but Tavuchi.

I just love pretty much everything she wears! She is the definition of Fairy Kei really and i love her style. i want those shorts!! XD

Number Two:
Laffi from Serepuff

She's frickin' adorable. i love her daringness when it comes to mixing styles and her sewing skils never fail to impress me! :3

Troi:
Spank! girl Eri!

Her style has a most subtle tone to it that i can relate my fashion to more. I really hate her fringe (bangs) though. XD

Four:
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu

I know i know, but she's so cute! i love her style and her hen-gao and i try to inject a little insanity into my life everyday. she is today's dose. :D

Last but not least:
Whoever this girl is

I cant remember her name or even what her blog is. I was reading it the other da but she's totally amazing. literally everything she wears is wantable. She can do Airy Fairy Cutesy but also Hot Dang Sexy too. i want her wardrobe. XD

30 Day Fairy Kei Challenge

☆ Day three: A picture or video of your bedroom.

psssh. i dont think so. my room is a mess right now. you can have a photo when i tidy it next week after my hand-in for uni. XD

Here's some Spank! stuff i find really inspiring and make me wanna sew my butt off instead.

Love the whole braces x highwaisted poofy skirt thing going on here.

Loving the different colours and patterns in all the different layers in this skirt. think it's Monascas Banana but oh well it was on Tavuchi's blog. the cool this is this skirt has bloomers attatched underneath already! :D

I dont want a patchwork backpack but i do want to make a patchwork flared skirt. :3

cute dress, cute socks, cute hair. i dont want to dress like her i want to BE her.

being almost an hourglass figure myself i love the idea of emphasising a tiny waist with a skirt like this. Plus Eric's style is totally adorable. :3

30 Day Fairy Kei Challenge Day 2

☆ Day two: Why and how you got into Fairy-Kei.

Hmm..... you know, I dont even know!

I mean why do we get into anything? I loved the cute factor, and the colours and the total airy fairy ness! and i love the name. I mean what's NOT going to be adorable about a fashion called Fairy Kei? XD

I think i read about it online somewhere and a brief description and decided to look into it more. I think i was interested in looking up about Decora and Hime Gyaru and I prefered Fairy-Kei because it was more subtle i think. or it can be. XD

Just thought of another thing i dislike about fairy kei:

~ I hate it when i try to wear it and my friends look at me and go "wtf are you wearing?" it's meant to make me feel happy (which it does, have no fear) but i hate that it prompts people in the UK (dunno about the US) to look at you and be all like "eugh. wtf?" and i live in a student town!! lol!

☆ Day nineteen: 5 of your favourite toys.

☆ Day twenty-seven: Your dream job?

☆ Day twenty-eight: 5 of your favourite places.

☆ Day twenty-nine: Your favourite colour-combo.

☆ Day thirty!: Do you see yourself wearing Fairy Kei in 5 years time?

So! Day one!

5 things I like about Fairy Kei:
~ The colour palette - i love pastel colours and the ability to wear an outfit with loads of pastels in without it clashing is great!

~ The layers - layers petticoats on top of each other looks so cute!

~ The characters - all the 80s characters are things i loved when i was a kid so it's really fun to find a My Little Pony tshirt or something and make it kinda cool! XD

~ The girlyness - fairy kei makes me feel cute and girly again

~ The freedom - you can basically do anything with fairy kei, dress how you want as long as you stick to the colour palette and themes. I also love the creativity of it and the DIY aspect. i love how Spank!'s stuff all looks handmade (because it is!)

5 Things I Dislike:

~ Difficult to find - it's sooooo hard to find things to add to my fairy kei wardrobe!! Original 80s stuff is impossible to find and when i go shopping to find something particular there is never anything right. I think it's part of the DIY part too that it's hard to buy something with the intention of altering it. And a lot of things i see that i like i just go "well i can just make that myself" then never do. lol

~ The Layers - yeah i know i said i liked them but i also hate them. putting on too many layers just makes me look fat and frumpy and with the size of my chest, it's hard to wear more than like 2 layers.

~ The connections to Lolita - ok ok so i dont exactly dislike it but when i find a cute fairy kei post but it's the only one on a lolita themed blog it gets on my nerves. I love reading lolita blogs but i wanna see more fairy kei blog posts people! XD

~ The price - even when you do find a fairy kei gem, it's all suuuuper expensive. I'm a student and very poor so this is a kick in the balls (so to speak).

that's all i can think of really. XD

Where did i go??

Heeeey everyone!

first of sorry my last post was so random! I'll tell you all about that in a second.
secondly, homigawd i have new followers! hiiii! XD

Ok so the reason why i've not been very active with my blogging recently is because i've been uber busy and keep forgetting to blog about what i'm doing. yeah total lameo i know but its all water under the bridge. i have forgiven myself already. XD

Anyways, on tuesday the 8th of november i went to the Channel 4 building in London to attend an E4 recruitment day to because an "E4er" it will involve blogging about new upcoming stuff on E4 and promoting it to the world! I dont know if i have been chosen yet (i will find out in a few weeks)but it was a great day and as really excellent experience!
I had no idea where i was going when i came out of St James Park tube station but i followed my iphone and where it told me to go when all of a sudden BAM!

it was just there! the 4 out the front is like loads of giant balloons (i poked one) and unless you stand at the right angle they dont match up, just like in the channel 4 adverts. :)
The day was filled with complete madness! we were split into 3 teams, pink, green ad yellow. I was in yellow. We then had to do a variety of different tasks which included creating our own super heroes (how would we use the powers to spread the E4 word?), creating a new tv show that has never been shown on E4 before and promoting an "Esting". They are little videos of filler put in between shows and adverts that viewers create and send in. :) So, hence the link in my last post. we had to blog, tweet, facebook, email, text and call everyway we knew how to get as many views of our team's Esting in the space of an hour. Our team came second over all. It was a really great day and made all the better by the AMAZING goodie bag we got at the end. an E4 bag, E4 notebook and the complete series of skins, misfits and inbetweeners. :) I had a lot of fun! fingers crossed for getting a place! XD

I've now finished my christmas shopping! yay! i started in july and finished this week. im satying at my parents this week and went with my mum and my brother in 2 different days. :D

on one of these trips i went into H&M and what a haul i got there! I dont have any photos yet but i'll put one up when i do!
I got a pair of denim overalls which i will be cutting short and customising, a mint high waisted skirt, a pink stripey skirt and a pair of pale orange shorts. :) all of this cost me £8! not even joking! my mind was blown. XD The mint skirt needs a bit of decoration though. it's kinda plain. something like a cute pocket or lace or something. :)

let's see what else have i been up to...

oh! this year I decided to chip in with mum's christmas stockings and made soap for everyone. i found a tutorial on making snow globe soaps which looked so cool and i decided to try myself. however they didnt really turn out that well. you can see the little things i put inside if you ho;d them up to the light but other than that it didnt really work as i hoped. i think the were too big and round for the size of things i put inside. but i'm still giving them out. :) on the same day i made these soaps i got some fluffy wool. it's been really hard to find the right yarn for making those mokomoko hair pins/brooches but i finally found some great stuff!

It's so fluffy and soft! XD
My mokomoko accessories arent ready for photos yet but they're coming along nicely. I keep making stuff too big then having to unwrap them and cut them smaller. haha. oh well.

Sock Haul

So me and my housemate were bored today so we decided to go to the local open air shopping centre to look around. I wanted to go to TKMaxx to look at the tights. as it happened i didnt buy any tights at all and bought 4 pairs of socks!!

They were all reduced to 2 pounds each which i though was a pretty good buy!!
Sadly the coloured ones are only knee-high which is a little short for what i like to wear. i feel like they kinda aggresivly chop my legs in half but oh well. they are pretty much in the 3 colours i've been looking for too.
The slouch socks reminded me of japanese loose socks of which i've wanted a pair since i got into japanese fashion and never got a chance to buy. Thankfully the pink "Elle" is on the back of the socks and easily hidden.

Here they are worn with my teddy shoes. they look so cute. :)

Shibuya Cam'd to hide messy room.

Incidentaly these shoes were definitely made to be worn with thick socks. i wore them out the other dar and HOMFG they hurt my feet. they are a little too small and HUG my toes. At least they'll be warm but they really need stretching out and wearing in before i'll be able to wear them all day. shame really cause they look amazingly comfy. :( oh well

In other foot-y news, i bought these (after my feet started get blisters. they were on sale)

I really want to pant them to make them more fairy kei interesting but don't know what to put on them.... hmmm
